The beaches of Capoliveri
The stretch of Elba coast with the highest number of beaches

Capoliveri is the municipality with the widest stretch of coast among the municipalities of Elba Island. The beaches of Capoliveri are different: with seabed of sand or small pebbles or gravel; equipped beaches or small wild beaches without services. You can find the beach that best suits your needs and those of your family.
The first beach of Capoliveri that you find along the coast starting from east is Naregno beach, a sandy equipped beach with all services; then you can see Ferrato beach, less known and not so frequented, and Straccoligno beach that is composed by sand and is equipped with all services. Far away from Capoliveri center you can visit Calanova beach with its parking, bathhouse and a barrestaurant which is the starting point to reach the nearest beaches, the wonderful Istia beach and the farthest Buzzancone and Sassi Neri beaches.
Then you can find the coast dominated by the plants of Capoliveri mines with the typical beaches composed by the waste of mining processing, the Ginepro beach.
Changing side the coast returns to assume a mainly sandy seabed with small stones and pebbles of Innamorata, Pareti, Morcone and Madonna delle Grazie beaches.
Inside of the bay and sheltered from winds you can find 2 of the most beautiful beaches of Capoliveri, Barabarca and Zuccale beaches, composed by fine golden sand and a limpid seabed, they are so frequented and ideal also for families with children.
Subsequently you can admire Lido di Capoliveri beach, the beautiful Felciaio beach, Norsi and Acquarilli beaches and at the end Lacona beach and the small and nice Laconella beach.

Beaches of Capoliveri from East to West
Naregno beach

It is a fine golden sandy beach with small pebbles, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, on the right side you can reach Forte Focardo following a small path.
The beach is partly free and partly equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds and deckchairs rental. Behind it there are all services such as restaurant, bar, a little grocery shop, a diving center and a sailing and windsurfing school.
Naregno beach is suitable also for families with babies because its seabed is sandy and gently degrades. On the right side of the beach you can find a small pier used by small and medium boats for docking.
Ferrato beach

It is a small beach which is divided in 2 parts by a rocky cliff that reaches the sea: the first beach is formed by sand, instead the second one is composed by small cobblestones.
On the Ferrato beach there aren’t services and is suitable for people who search natural beaches surrounded by nature with a limpid and trasparent seabed.
It is also ideal for snorkeling lovers.
Straccoligno beach

Straccoligno beach is surrounded by a lush Mediterranean vegetation, it is about 200 meters long and is composed by fine sand. We suggest it also to children because of its seabed that remains very low in the first meters and degrades slowly.
To reach it you have to arrive in front of Capoliveri municipality, then turn left and follow different signs that will allow you to arrive directly at the beach where are situated free and no-free parkings.
Calanova beach

Calanova beach is accessible following the signs towards Straccoligno beach and going along a dirt road of about 1 kilometers until to reach a no-free car park (it costs € 5 per day) where you can park your car shaded from a large pinewood.
When you arrive at it you will find a beach of small pebbles and sand surrounded by a lush vegetation, suitable for people who search a relaxing day without crowd even in high season. Inside of the beach there is a restaurant, a bar and a rental of umbrellas and deckchairs.
Istia beach

Istia beach is the beach near Calanova beach, it is without services and it is preferred by people who search a beach surrounded by greenery and not so crowded. Behind this beach there is a beautiful pinewood where you can enjoy the shade and the cool at any time of the day and it is ideal to have packed lunch, take a nap o read a book between a swim and another one.
Istia beach is formed by small pebbles of pale gravel and the limpid water makes it ideal for snorkeling lovers.
Buzzancone or Cera beach

It is a small cove in the eastern side of Capoliveri, it is not so frequented even in high season thanks to its difficulty to be reached. To arrive at the beach it is possible to park your car at the parking of Canova beach and walk for 15 minutes or to use canoe, pedal boat or kayak from the nearby beaches.
The seabed of Buzzancone or Cera beach is composed by sand and gravel of light color, it is very low and suitable for snorkeling thanks to 2 cliffs at the sides of the beach which are rich in marine animals. The beach is practically sheltered from all winds.
Sassi Neri beach
Sassi Neri beach lies in the part of the coast below the Capoliveri mines, it is composed by 2 small coves formed by small cobblestones and gravel obtained from the mining waste. The coves are not very frequented because of difficult to access, in fact it is possible to reach them by car from a private road accessible only to guests of the tourist village of Costa dei Gabbiani, the other people have to reach it by bike or on foot. From the private road, that surrounds the entire promontory, starts a footpath that leads to Sassi Neri beach. It is mainly frequented by vessels that reach it by water.
Stagnone beach
It is formed by 2 small coves just below the Calamita Mount, Stagnone beach has a seabed of gravel and a few bigger rocks, it takes its name from a small inlet that forms a natural pool. It is ideal to reach it by sea, instead by land it is necessary to be guests of the tourist village of Costa dei Gabbiani. Stagnone beach is not so frequented even in high season and it is ideal for people who search a corner of natural coast immersed into the Mediterranean maquis. We suggest you exploring the nearby rocks with mask and flippers.
The Ginepro, Cala delle Brache and Carbonaia beaches
They are 3 beaches that are situated in the mining zone in front of excavations of the Ginevro mine, the largest iron mines in Europe. The seabed is composed by waste of metals, pebbles and stones processing. Ginepro beach is not so frequented because it is difficult to reach it, in fact we advise to go there by sea with the aid of a boat or a canoe. The zone is very beautiful from an historical and environmental point of view, there are in fact the remains of mines, with the various structures used in the past for the processing and loading of iron.
Remaiolo beach
Remaiolo beach is situated in the southern side of Capoliveri coast, it has a seabed of white gravel mixed with small pebbles and ferrous gravel of mining origin. The area is owned by the tourist village of Costa dei Gabbiani and therefore the access by car is only allowed to guests of the facility. We suggest you reaching it by sea starting from the nearby beaches. Remaiolo beach is sheltered from winds and is 100 meters long, much loved by lovers of snorkeling and diving who arrive until the Remaiolo rock to admire the underwater life of the place.
On the right side of Remaiolo beach there is a rocky faraglione that reaches the sea and protects the beach from winds which blow from south-west, beyond the cliff you can find Vetrangoli or Punta Rossa beach.
Cannello beach
Cannello beach lies in the southern side of Calamita Mount, in the south coast of Capoliveri. It is situated in the mining zone, it is composed by gravel and pale and dark pebbles derived from mining activity.
Cannello beach is reachable only by sea because the only dirt road that arrives at the beach is that of Calamita mine which has been closed to cars, so it could be reached on foot or using a mountain bike.
Cannello beach and the small beaches near it are not so visited because of their difficulty to reach them and are preferred by yacthsmen who love quiet and wild beaches without services.
Innamorata beach

Innamorata beach of Capoliveri, a sandy and small cobblestones beach with very limpid water among the most beautiful beaches of Elba Island, is sheltered from winds thanks to 2 promontories at the ends and it is few kilometers away from Capoliveri center. On the beach it is possible to find all services: umbrellas, deckchairs and sunbeds rental, bar, restaurant and diving.
This beach is famous also for the historical commemoration of the Legend of Innamorata that takes place on July 14 directly on the beach.
Pareti beach
Pareti beach is situated in the southern coast of Capoliveri, it is formed by a sandy shore with small pebbles and it is approx. 200 meters long. On the beach there are all services and it is possible to rent canoes, pedal boats and kayaks to discover lots of coves near the Gabbiani coast.
Pareti beach is reachable by car arriving in the center of Capoliveri and following the specific indications to Pareti beach. Parkings are practically nonexistent and it is recommended to reach the beach by bus or shuttles made available by municipality.
Pareti beach is surrounded by a unique natural environment, immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation. It is possible to practice lots of watersports, such as snorkeling and diving, it is not a case if Pareti has been chosen as location by Umberto Pellizzari and Jacques Mayold to train and above all achieve their world record of apnea.
Morcone beach

Morcone beach is situated in the southern coast of Capoliveri and it is protected from winds except those which blow from south-west. It is formed by a fine and coarse sandy beach of brown color. It is ideal for families and youngs who would like to do watersports.
Morcone beach is mostly in concession to the bathhouses, the free areas are located in the central and left part of the beach. The seabed slopes gently and is also suitable for young children.
Peducelli beach
Peducelli beach is little signaled and if you would like to reach it you have to follow the signs towards Madonna delle Grazie beach, on the road there is only a sign that indicates “Peducelli apartments” where you have to walk until the beach.
The beach is composed by coarse gravel and it is narrow and not so long. It is sheltered from all winds except those that blow from south and south-west.
On Peducelli beach there aren’t any services.
Madonna delle Grazie beach
It is a small beach of sand and fine gravel of brown color, on the right side of Madonna delle Grazie beach there is a small beach bordered by tuff cliffs and is preferred by first tourists who arrive on the beach and can enjoy a stretch of beach almost private.
In the center of beach the sandy part is not so extended but also in high season it is not so frequented. On the left side of the beach you can find a stretch of rocks and a little pier where it is possible to fish.
On Madonna delle Grazie beach it is possible to find a bar and a restaurant where have romantic breakfasts over the sea or have dinner enjoying a wonderful sunset, then to complete services there is a diving center few meters from the seashore.
From Madonna delle Grazie it is possible to arrive at Stecchi beach through a comfortable path and while the walking you can discover small coves and rocks that form real natural pools.
Stecchi beach
Stecchi beach is a small cove reachable on foot through a comfortable pathway from the nearby beach Madonna delle Grazie, the shore is very little and intimate and it is formed by sand and gravel of pale color.
On the left side of Stecchi beach there is an high pier used in the past to load the mining material and nowdays it is used to perform acrobatic dives from about 5 meters high.
On the right side of the beach stands a cliff of rocks not very smooth and therefore it isn’t suitable to lie down with beach towel.
The real beach is about 30 meters long, in the past it was not so famous but in the recent years there are more and more tourists, so in high season it is difficult to find a place where spread the towel and drive the umbrella because of its small dimension.
Barabarca beach
Barabarca beach is sheltered from winds by an high stretch of coast rich in vegetation, it is composed by a seabed of light sand and small cobblestones and it has a bar with umbrellas, deckchairs and pedal boats rental.
Barabarca beach is suitable also for families with children who can play near the seashore, on the right side following the rocks it is possible to find relax because it is not so frequented even in high season.
Zuccale beach
It is a wonderful sandy beach in the Capoliveri municipality, the limpid and trasparent water is perfect to practice excursions with mask to discover numerous fishes which hide between the nearby rocks.
Behind it the cove is surrounded by Mediterranean maquis and the seabed gently degrades, it is ideal for children who can play whithout fear.
Lido di Capoliveri beach
Lido di Capoliveri beach is one of the most famous and frequented beaches of all Capoliveri coast, especially during the high season period the turnout is high.
The beach is frequented by both youngs and families with children thanks to its sandy shore and seabed that degrades very slowly. Families can take with them their children without fear to have to control them constantly.
The Capoliveri beach is very frequented, in fact it is almost completely equipped.
The only free spaces are situated in the central and left part of the beach. Lots of people choose this beach to enjoy various water activities also out season, in fact it is possible to practice windsurf or others watersports, to rent pedal boats, canoes and kayaks.
Felciaio beach
Felciaio beach is in the Capoliveri coast, it is formed by 3 small coves, the most beautiful and frequented is the second one which is bounded by some rocks that had to protect the little pier but nowadays they are used for dives and snorkeling.
Felciaio beach is formed by sand and covered in large part by posidonia, it is very popular especially in high season.
Norsi beach
Norsi beach is situated in the southern coast of Elba Island, a very sunny beach during all day, it is sheltered from winds that blow from north such as tramontana, maestrale and grecale. It is about 400 meters long and it is
composed by 2 small half-moon shaped beaches divided by rocks. On the beach you can admire all the Stella gulf that is bordered by 2 green promontories covered by Mediterranean vegetation. In the clearest days you can admire Montecristo island in distance. Norsi beach is composed by sand and small dark pebbles that give it a wild and natural appearance.
Acquarilli beach
It is the only beach of Elba Island authorized to practice naturism in the Capoliveri municipality.
It can be reached by sea or parking on Acquarilli promontory and going down through a steep dirt path.
Its seabed is composed by cobblestones and dark gravel, it is sheltered from winds and it is ideal for people who search a reserved and little frequented beach also in high season.
Margidore beach
It is a sandy beach near the beautiful and famous Lacona beach, in fact it is not so crowded even in July and August.
The beach is very wide and the most frequented area is situated near the access road.
On the right side instead there is a small tourist harbour and the equipment for towing boats.
Margidore beach can be simply reached by car and it is possible to park the car at the edge of the road.
Lacona beach
It is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of Elba Island and the biggest one. It is suitable for everyone, families with children, couples, youngs and adults.
The Lacona beach on Elba Island is composed by fine golden sand, it is sheltered from winds thanks to Capo di Stella and Capo Fonza promontories. It is suitable for all age ranges thanks to various equipped establishments.
On the beach it is possible to rent boats, pedal boats, surf, sunbeds and umbrellas.
Laconella beach
Laconella beach lies on the right side of the famous Lacona beach, much more intimate and wild than her older sister. It is composed by fine golden sand and on the right side it is covered by heaps of beached posidonia. On the left side instead it is protected by a cliff that form a small cove inside of it called Punta
Contessa.
Laconella beach is ideal for people who search a natural beach immersed in a unique scenery where it is possible to do snorkeling to discover the various ravines formed in the wide cliff which surrounds it.
